Real madrid left it till the dying minute to get back into the game but confirmed their superiority by adding three goals in extra time. The match was breath taking and entertaining from the beginning till the end. The first goal was for Athletico Madrid courtesy of Godin when Iker Cassilas rushed out to collect an header but couldn't get his hand to it and Godin hit the ball with his head to beat him and take Athletico ahead. Events dragged on till the end of first half and even second half. Gareth Bale had a couple of opportunities to get Real Madrid back into the game but he kept missing the goal. The equaliser finally came in the 93rd minute when Sergio Ramos scored an header from a corner to beat Courtois thereby taking the match into extra time. 1-1 it was at 90 minutes but three goals entered in extra time for Real madrid through Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively to take the match beyond Athletico Madrid's reach. Di Maria drove into the box to play a shot that went towards Bale and the Welshman didn't waste the opportunity to make it 2-1. Marcelo was later left alone outside the box and he drove forward towards the eighteen yard box to power the shot that put the game out of Athletico's reach. Later on when it was almost the end of the game, Ronaldo was brought down in the eighteen yard box and the resulting penalty was perfectly taken by Ronaldo himself to take the game to 4-1 and hand Real Madrid the La Decima they have been searching for for years.
Congrats to all Madrid fans out there.
