Earlier this week, it was reported that Arsenal has fall back plan if
Arsene Wenger does not renew his contract. But despite this, the high
ranking officials at Arsenal are afraid of a manchester united style
of collapse if the long reign of the french manager comes to an end.
Daily telegraph reported that despite the growing unrest among the
fans, the club is concerned about the effect his exit will mean for
the club. Manchester united currently lie in seventh position, and
were defeated in their last match against their manchester rival. The
situation now at manchester united is not what many people expected
but it is the kind of situation a club can find itself in if a long
serving manager leaves. This is what many in the Arsenal hierarchy are
afraid of. Though there is currently a two year deal tabled before
him, he has decided to leave the signing till the end of the season
and may make a U-turn if Arsenal fails to end the season meaningfully.
Arsene Wenger has good rapport with many of his players and staff
members and his exit may mean changes to the structure of the team and
staff which may affect the team. Many of the replacements been lined
up either have no experience in English football or have no experience
managing a big club. Therefore, holding on to Arsene Wenger at this
point is important for the club's future.
Mikel Arteta,32 who is in his third season at Arsenal may not have
his contract renewed. His contract will remain a year after this
season but despite the renewals been given to Per Mertesacker and
Santi Cazorla, Arteta's contract may not be renewed. This may be
because the club is working towards signing a younger and well proven
A-list central midfielder to bring energy and creativity to the team.
