The duo of Kierian Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-chamberlain will both be
available for selection for the match against Swansea today.
Yesterday, Arsenal appealed the Red card shown to Kierian Gibbs by
Andre Marinner as the referee made a mistake by sending him off for a
foul committed by chamberlain. The FA confirmed on monday that the
sanction for kierian Gibbs as a result of the foul have been lifted
and will then be transfered to chamberlain, but Arsenal moved
immediately to appeal again as video evidence showed Alex
Oxlade-chamberlain did not prevent a goal scoring opportunity as the
Eden Hazard shot was going wide off post.
A statement from the FA read: 'An Independent Regulatory Commission today
heard two claims from Arsenal, one of mistaken identity and the other
of wrongful dismissal, both in relation to Saturday's game against
Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. 'The commission ruled that the dismissal
of
Kieran Gibbs was a case of mistaken identity
and transferred this to his team-mate Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain.
'Subsequent to deciding this matter, the
commission then considered Arsenal's claim for
wrongful dismissal in relation to Oxlade-
Chamberlain. This claim was upheld, meaning
Oxlade-Chamberlain will not serve any
suspension with the standard punishment
withdrawn with immediate effect.'
Bayern leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender is back on Arsenal radar
after a failed bid to bring him to the emirates stadium last summer.
Bender is seen as a natural replacement for Mikel Arteta. The former
everton man turns 32 on wednesday and Wenger is keen to sign the 24
year old midfielder as he can play Arsenal kind of game. Also Dortmund
midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and Southampton's Morgan schneiderlin are
also been monitored.
