Arsenal have been alerted to the availability of Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez as he is said to be thinking about the possibility of leaving Bayern. The midfelder who can also play at centre back has found first team opportunity had to come by under Pep Guardiola and may decide to ply his trade else where. After  Bayer leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender insisted that his future remains where he presently is, Arsenal have been alerted to the situation of Martinez and have made enquiries about him.
The 25-year old may see Barcelona as a preferred destination due to the shortage of quality in their defence but Arsenal also represents a place where he can get first team opportunities due to the fact that club assistant captain Mikel Arteta is yet to be handed a contract extension and he may well fit in as a replacement. The 30 million pound asking price could be met by Barcelona if they however decide to sign him and that will mean Arsene Wenger will have to look elsewhere to reinforce his midfield.
